Hello Blogworld! I'm Amber and I guess I should introduce myself and tell you a little about how I started this blog :) I am 26 years old and I live in sunny Santa Barbara. Currently I am studying for the GRE and beginning the application process for graduate school. Eventually I would love to find a career that combines my love for healthy living with a graduate degree in Psychology. For the past couple years following my college graduation, I felt myself eating worse, excercising less and becoming more stressed and moody. I was always super active in college and never thought twice about what I ate because I looked great. I was always "that skinny girl that can eat whatever she wants." Well, that all changed when I started spending 40 hours a week at a desk and little energy to workout. I knew something had to change but I had gotten myself in a rut and I couldn't seem to pull myself out. Well, I received a pretty serious wakeup call when I had a mole removed earlier in the year that turned out to be Melanoma. Luckily I caught my Melanoma early but I knew there was a possibility it could come back. I started reading healthy living blogs, changing my diet and returning to my active lifestyle. I want my body to be as healthy and clean as possible.
During my diagnosis with Melanoma, I learned quickly what stress can do to your body and man I had no idea. I developed a serious teeth clenching habit at night that knocked my jaw completely out of alignment and caused serious jaw, neck and sinus pain, a condition known as Tempromandibular Joint Disorder.
Right about now I am on a mission to live my life to the fullest by eating healthy, being active and finding true happiness. Hope you enjoy watching my journey to become a better person!
